Master of Arts in School Leadership (MASL)
Benedictine College’s School of Education has organized under the conceptual framework “Educators as Builders of Community;” this philosophy continues in our graduate programs. Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree program at Benedictine College is designed for candidates with an undergraduate degree outside of the field of Education who are seeking to become licensed teachers. The elementary track leads to eligibility for a Kansas teaching license in grades PreK-6. Secondary candidates with degrees in the following disciplines qualify for admission to the MAT.: Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, French, Math, Music, Physics, P.E./Health, Social Science, and Spanish. Master of Arts in Special Education (MASE)
The Master of Arts in Special Education (MASE) program prepares licensed general education teachers to implement evidence-based practices to increase the success of students with high-incidence disabilities academically, socially, and behaviorally.
This thirty-credit degree program is completed in five semesters and includes two supervised fieldwork practicums that allow application of coursework to real-world situations. The MASE prepares a candidate to add a high-incidence disability endorsement to an existing Kansas license. State-specific licensure requirements are provided by the Director of the MASE to enrolling candidates who can then verify with their home state department of education the specific steps to take to add the special education endorsement.
